A public-engagement poster and hands-on stand for European Researchers’ Night. Tumours of the nose and sinuses are rare, and several types look identical under a microscope. Chemical marks on a tumour’s DNA can separate them, and the SPELCASTER project asks whether an AI tool that reads those marks, developed at one institution, works across five European centres with their own patients, samples and instruments. Visitors tried to classify tumours from their methylation “tag” patterns by hand before seeing which marks the machine used.
